Overview Alkaston Tablet

Alkaston tablets feature magnesium citrate, potassium citrate, and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) as their key components. Potassium citrate primarily elevates urinary citrate levels by altering renal citrate processing, not citrate filtration. This leads to urine less prone to crystallization of stone-forming salts like calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, and uric acid. It also suppresses spontaneous nucleation of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate. Magnesium citrate counteracts calcium oxalate crystal formation in urine. Pyridoxine reduces hepatic oxalate production, while magnesium binds oxalate in the digestive tract, hindering reabsorption and preventing calcium oxalate kidney stones. Alkaston tablets are indicated for: maintaining electrolyte balance, preventing and treating kidney stones, supporting kidney health, and preventing calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis.
