Overview Carodyl 100 Tablet
Carprofen, marketed as Carodyl 100 Tablet, belongs to the propionic acid class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), a group that also encompasses ibuprofen, naproxen, and ketoprofen. Its chemical name is 6-chloro-α-methyl-9H-carbazole-2-acetic acid, a substituted carbazole derivative.
Primary Ingredients of Carodyl 100 Tablet
Rimadyl
Major Benefits of Carodyl 100 Tablet:
- Carodyl is used to alleviate pain and inflammation in dogs with osteoarthritis, and to manage postoperative pain following soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
- Carprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), possesses analgesic and antipyretic properties comparable to indomethacin in animal studies; it is not a narcotic.
- Studies demonstrate that carprofen suppresses the production of various prostaglandins within two types of inflammatory cells: rat polymorphonuclear leukocytes and human rheumatoid synovial cells. This suggests carprofen's ability to mitigate both acute (PMN-mediated) and chronic (synovial cell-mediated) inflammation.
How to Use Carodyl 100 Tablet:
Administer Carodyl chewable tablets to dogs orally at a rate of 2 mg per pound of body weight daily. This can be given as a single 2 mg/lb dose or split into two 1 mg/lb doses. For managing post-surgical pain, give the medication roughly two hours prior to the procedure. Carodyl tablets are scored for easy division; adjust dosages in half-tablet increments by gently breaking the tablet along the score line. These palatable tablets are readily accepted by most dogs and can be hand-fed or mixed with food. Always confirm the dog has ingested the entire prescribed dose.
Safety Instruction of Carodyl 100 Tablet:
- Administer orally to canines exclusively.
- Canine patients with a history of adverse reactions to carprofen should not receive Carodyl.
- Store where children cannot access.
- For veterinary or laboratory use only.

- Caregivers should monitor for indications of possible adverse drug reactions.
