Overview Cologenesis Colofiber-MM

Lyophilized Cologenesis Colofiber-MM, a Type I collagen-based formulation, incorporates mupirocin USP (2% w/w) and metronidazole IP (1% w/w) within defined particle sizes. Gamma irradiation ensures sterility, and the product is packaged in user-friendly containers. Its collagen particles exhibit excellent absorptive properties, and it's characterized by its non-toxic, non-allergenic, and non-immunogenic profile. Colofiber-MM is indicated for the management of various wound types, including chronic ulcers (diabetic foot, pressure, and venous), traumatic injuries, surgical incisions, and infected wounds.

Primary Ingredients of Cologenesis Colofiber-MM

  • Fibrous structural protein
  • Mupirocin ointment, topical application
  • Metronidazole, pharmaceutical grade

Major Benefits of Cologenesis Colofiber-MM:

  • Connective tissue relies heavily on collagen, a protein found in the extracellular matrix. This protein constitutes the most prevalent protein in the human body and exhibits diverse functionalities.
  • The formation of new collagen fibers and granulation tissue within a wound facilitates healing by structuring and laying down these components, thereby fostering an optimal environment for repair.
  • Mupirocin ointment demonstrates high efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus, proving indispensable in eliminating staphylococcal infections.
  • Mupirocin, an antibacterial agent, treats a range of bacterial infections affecting the skin.
  • Mupirocin, an antibacterial medication, effectively combats numerous gram-positive bacterial species.
  • Topical metronidazole cream is used to treat infections caused by gram-negative bacteria.
  • Metronidazole applied directly to the skin has demonstrated efficacy across a range of dermatological conditions.
  • Metronidazole, an imidazole-based antibacterial drug, is categorized as a bactericide (Physicians' Desk Reference, 55th edition, 2001, p. 1115).
  • Anaerobic bacterial infections are treated with metronidazole.

How to Use Cologenesis Colofiber-MM:

Evaluate, cleanse, and remove debris from the wound using established procedures. Apply collofibre-MM particles liberally to achieve complete wound coverage. For wounds with significant exudate, use a highly absorbent dressing, changing it as needed. For minimally draining wounds, apply a secondary, non-absorbent dressing and replace as necessary. Daily removal of the secondary dressing is recommended, guided by drainage levels. If the dressing adheres, gently irrigate with saline solution until it releases. Reapply collofibre-MM particles as initially applied. Initial wound size may appear to increase for several days as swelling diminishes. Increased drainage is possible during the initial treatment phase. Concurrent management of underlying health issues and nutritional support should accompany collofibre-MM therapy.

Safety Instruction of Cologenesis Colofiber-MM:

  • To promote optimal wound healing, avoid using topical treatments such as povidone-iodine, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite, as their potential for tissue damage may impede the regeneration process.
  • Collofibre-MM particle units are disposable and cannot be reprocessed.
  • Keep in a cool, dry location, protected from direct sunlight.
  • Always check the package insert before administering.
  • Store out of children's reach.
