Overview Cologenesis Diacoll-S Collagen Wound Dressing
Diacoll-S Collagen Wound Dressing, a gentamicin sulfate-infused collagen sponge, delivers targeted antimicrobial action. The collagen matrix serves as a localized delivery system for the gentamicin, effectively combating even antibiotic-resistant bacteria at reduced dosages. Applications include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, abdominal, vascular, plastic surgery, and diabetic foot ulcer treatment. Key advantages include: sustained high drug concentration at the wound site, minimizing systemic effects; gradual tissue absorption (6-10 days); gamma-sterilization ensuring antiseptic properties; user-friendly, durable, flexible, and disposable single-use packaging. Directions: Strict aseptic surgical techniques are mandatory. Cut Diacoll-S to slightly exceed wound dimensions (2-3mm). The moist sponge conforms readily to tissue contours. Prepare the wound bed through thorough debridement and gentle saline irrigation to remove debris and necrotic tissue. Gently dry surrounding skin. Apply Diacoll-S; optional gauze covering may be used. Initial edema reduction may temporarily enlarge the wound; increased drainage is expected initially. Concurrent management of underlying conditions (vascular insufficiency, pressure, nutrition) is crucial. Contraindicated in patients with collagen or gentamicin hypersensitivity. Safety Precautions: Store in a cool, dry, dark place. Adhere strictly to label instructions. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only.
Major Benefits of Cologenesis Diacoll-S Collagen Wound Dressing:
- Sustains elevated drug levels at the intended site, minimizing systemic toxicity and related adverse reactions.
- Tissue integration of collagen occurs gradually, typically within a 6- to 10-day timeframe following application.
- Gamma irradiation renders it sterile; it also exhibits antiseptic qualities.
- Convenient, robust, adaptable, and single-use.
- Individually packaged and sterile, it's for one-time application only.
How to Use Cologenesis Diacoll-S Collagen Wound Dressing:
Strict adherence to sterile surgical techniques is mandatory. Diacoll™ should be trimmed to slightly overlap the wound margins by 2-3mm. The moistened sheet conforms readily to the bony and soft tissue surfaces. Prepare the wound site, meticulously removing all debris and necrotic tissue. Gently irrigate with sterile saline until clean. Gently dry the wound edges and surrounding skin. Apply Diacoll™. Optional gauze coverage may be used. Initial edema reduction may cause apparent wound enlargement. Increased drainage is expected in the early treatment phase. Concurrent management of contributing factors (vascular status, pressure, nutrition) is essential. Diacoll™ is contraindicated in patients with collagen or gentamicin hypersensitivity.
Safety Instruction of Cologenesis Diacoll-S Collagen Wound Dressing:
- Keep in a cool, dry location, protected from direct sunlight.
- Always check the package insert before administering.
- Store out of children's reach.
- Apply topically only.
