This action creates urine less likely to foster crystallization of stone-forming salts like calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, and uric acid, further hindering spontaneous nucleation of calcium oxalate and brushite. Magnesium citrate counteracts calcium oxalate crystal formation in urine.
