This sterile, braided, synthetic absorbable suture is designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic applications. However, its inherent absorbability via hydrolysis (reducing tensile strength then mass) contraindicates its use in situations demanding prolonged tissue approximation, such as cardiovascular or neurological procedures. Key features include a violet 45cm length, USP 3-0 diameter, and a 17mm, 1/2 circle reverse cutting heavy port needle coated with calcium stearate. Absorption is complete within 56-70 days (average 63 days), with tensile strength retention at 75%, 50%, and 25% at 14, 21, and 28 days respectively. For healthcare professional use only.
