Blue flag (Iris versicolor) is a homeopathic remedy derived from the perennial blue flag herb. Indicated for gastrointestinal distress including anorexia, intense burning sensations throughout the digestive tract (mouth to anus), bilious vomiting (possibly containing blood), excessive salivation, and a burning oral mucosa feeling as though scalded. Watery diarrhea with anal and intestinal burning is also characteristic. Associated symptoms may include tinnitus (buzzing, ringing, roaring), deafness, and right-sided headaches preceded by blurred vision after periods of intense mental exertion. These headaches worsen at night, during rest, and in the evening, improving with continuous movement. Side effects are unreported. Administer 30 minutes apart from food, beverages, or other medications. Avoid strong odors (camphor, garlic, onion, coffee, asafoetida) in the mouth before and after dosing.
