Blue flag (Iris versicolor) is a perennial herb used in homeopathic remedies. Indicated for gastrointestinal distress including anorexia, intense burning sensations throughout the digestive tract, bilious vomiting with blood, excessive salivation, and a burning, scalded feeling in the mouth and throat. Watery diarrhea accompanied by anal and intestinal burning may also be present. Auditory symptoms can include deafness with tinnitus (buzzing, ringing, or roaring). Headaches, particularly on the right side, often begin with blurred vision following periods of intense mental exertion, and are worse at night and during rest, improving with continuous movement. Side effects are not reported. Administer homeopathic preparations at least 30 minutes apart from food, drink, or other medications. Avoid strong-smelling substances such as camphor, garlic, onion, coffee, or asafoetida near the mouth prior to ingestion. Use only under professional medical guidance.
