Potassium bichromate is the base of this homeopathic preparation. It effectively addresses mucous membrane irritation in the stomach, intestines, and respiratory tract, and also exhibits affinity for the bones, kidneys, heart, and liver. Characteristic is the migratory nature of pain, shifting rapidly from one location to another. Nasal symptoms include thick, tenacious, stringy, yellow-green discharge; pain and pressure between the eyebrows; pain at the nasal tip; ulcerated nasal septum; loss of smell; violent sneezing; and nasal congestion. Infants, particularly those plump and healthy, often present with nasal sniffles. Pain may be felt at the nasal root, or as sharp, stabbing sensations within the nasal passages. Ulcers on the septum, often round and foul-smelling, may be present. Thick, ropy, greenish-yellow discharge, and tenacious plugs that leave raw areas, are also common. Throat symptoms include redness, burning, pain, swelling, and may be indicative of diphtheria. The uvula may be relaxed and swollen. Burning may extend to the stomach. Tough, stringy discharge from the mouth and throat, and an inability to digest meat are often reported. Gastric ulcers, nausea, and vomiting following beer consumption respond well to this remedy. Stomach discomfort may improve after eating. Pain in the liver and spleen area is also noted. Symptoms improve with warmth and worsen with beer and hot weather. A feeling of digestive standstill and fullness occurs immediately post-meal. Round stomach ulcers may also be present. Urinary symptoms include burning during urination and a persistent, unexpelled drop of urine after voiding. Stringy mucus may be present in the urine.
