Mercurius Hydrargyrum, also known as Quicksilver, is a homeopathic remedy derived from purified mercury. Its therapeutic properties are well-established. Symptoms worsen nocturnally, during perspiration, in warm beds, and in cool, humid conditions. Extreme sensitivity to temperature fluctuations is characteristic. Offensive body odors and discharges are common. A predisposition to ulceration, bleeding, and tissue necrosis is observed. Headaches are intense, accompanied by heat, inflammation, and a tight, bandaged sensation. Vertigo occurs in the supine position. The scalp may exhibit stinging, burning, foul-smelling eruptions and hair loss; oily perspiration is also noted. Eyes experience burning and corrosive discharge. This remedy is particularly suitable for individuals working near fire or molten metal. Nosebleeds, foul-smelling and bloody nasal discharge, nasal bone destruction, and sneezing in sunlight are prominent features. Yellow-green, fetid, purulent nasal discharge is also typical. Ear symptoms include thick, yellow, fetid, and bloody discharge; earaches worsen with warmth and at night. External ear boils may develop. The mouth exhibits excessive salivation, spongy gums, a moist, yellow, flabby tongue, and halitosis. Patients experience intense thirst for cold drinks, constant hunger, and stomach tenderness.
