Characteristic symptoms include a scalp covered in thick, leathery crusts concealing pus; headaches intensified by speech; decaying tooth roots; ears feeling as though exposed to a cold draft; a strong urge to dig fingers into ears; chronic, intensely burning stomach ulcers; a craving for pork fat; burning sensations in the tongue radiating to the stomach; excessive salivation; chronic gastritis; and gastric ulcers with significant burning.
