Sodium sulfate, derived from Glauber's salt, serves as a valuable treatment for hepatic ailments. Its effectiveness is particularly pronounced in individuals whose symptoms intensify in humid conditions – such as monsoon seasons, exposure to rain, or residence in damp environments. This sensitivity extends to foods; affected persons often avoid aquatic plants and fish. Suicidal ideation may be present. Gastrointestinal symptoms include a brown, bitter-coated tongue, vomiting, heartburn, dyspepsia, and flatulence. Hepatic discomfort is characterized by tenderness and sharp, stabbing pains. Tight clothing around the waist is poorly tolerated. Loose, watery stools worsen after wet weather, often voluminous and accompanied by flatulence. This remedy is also indicated for hepatitis, jaundice, and bilious vomiting. Further applications include post-traumatic meningitis, childhood asthma (with chest-holding during coughing), chronic gout (intense toe pain), and jaundice accompanied by watery blisters and a propensity for warts. Dosage should be as directed by a physician; concurrent use with conventional medications is permissible. Adverse effects are unreported. To maximize efficacy, maintain a 30-minute interval between ingestion and other substances. Avoid strong odors (camphor, garlic, onion, coffee, asafoetida) before and after administration.
