Castor oil, derived from the *Ricinus communis* plant, significantly impacts the gastrointestinal system. It functions as a laxative and promotes lactation in breastfeeding mothers. Symptoms may include epigastric burning, nausea, significant vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, abdominal rumbling with rectus muscle spasms, watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, chills, and stomach tenderness. Additional symptoms can be fever, weight loss, and loose, greenish, slimy, or bloody stools. For breastfeeding women, it can safely increase milk supply when administered appropriately and frequently by a physician. Dosage should always be as directed by a doctor and can be used concurrently with conventional medications. To maximize effectiveness, separate ingestion from food, drinks, and other medications by at least thirty minutes.
