Derived from the dried, unopened flower buds of *Artemisia cina*, santonin is a crystalline compound with established efficacy against intestinal parasites, notably roundworms and threadworms. Its therapeutic applications extend to certain ocular and urinary disorders. Characteristic symptoms often associated with its use include visual, auditory, and gustatory hallucinations. Ophthalmic symptoms may present as color blindness, strabismus (squint) secondary to parasitic infestation, and dark circles under the eyes. Urinary symptoms can encompass kidney or bladder infections, urine discoloration (greenish, reddish-purple), dysuria (painful urination), urinary incontinence (enuresis), and a sensation of urinary fullness. Further symptoms include occipital headache, nasal pruritus (itching) and digging, fetid breath, a deep red tongue, bruxism (teeth grinding), nausea (relieved by eating), a sensation of choking, and muscular twitching. Dosage should strictly adhere to physician's instructions and can be concurrently administered with conventional medications. Observe a 30-minute interval between santonin and food, beverages, or other medications. Avoid strong odors such as camphor, garlic, onion, coffee, or asafoetida during administration.
