Golden ragwort (Senecio aureus), also called Life-root or Squaw-weed, yields a tincture from its entire plant. Traditionally used for various ailments, it's reputed to help manage female reproductive issues, urinary tract problems, and respiratory difficulties. Specifically, it may be beneficial for amenorrhea (absence of menstruation) in young women, particularly when accompanied by back pain and scant or infrequent menstruation. Premenstrual symptoms such as cough, cold, or urinary discomfort may also respond to its use. It's also suggested for painful periods in anemic women. In urinary concerns, it might address kidney stones (with associated pain and back pain), hematuria (blood in urine), pyuria (pus in urine), dark urine, oliguria (reduced urine output), and urinary frequency. Respiratory applications may include alleviating loose coughs, hoarseness, dyspnea (difficulty breathing), and chest pain. Dosage should be as directed by a healthcare professional and can be used concurrently with conventional medications. Reported side effects are absent.
