• Strong ambient lighting can interfere with measurement accuracy. While the device incorporates a light-shielding rubber component, direct, intense illumination may still compromise results.
• Vigorous exertion by the participant could compromise the reliability of the results.
• Nail polish or other pigments on the fingertip where a pulse oximetry probe is placed can compromise the accuracy of the reading. The color absorbs the emitted light, hindering the device's ability to measure oxygenated hemoglobin levels.
• Probe displacement from patient movement can lead to unreliable measurements. Therefore, if the patient exhibits tremors or restlessness, stabilize the hand or postpone the test until movement subsides.
