Waxmelt Otic Solution combines paradichlorobenzene, benzocaine, chlorobutanol, and turpentine oil. Paradichlorobenzene aids in cerumen removal, while benzocaine provides analgesic and antipruritic effects. Waxmelt is indicated for pain and itching associated with otitis media with effusion and external otitis. Administration: Position the patient laterally with the affected ear uppermost. Instill 5-10 drops of Waxmelt into the auditory canal. Insert a cotton pledget, leaving it in place for 15-30 minutes. Gently remove softened cerumen with a cotton swab. Flush the canal with lukewarm water using a bulb syringe, avoiding forceful irrigation. Reapply Waxmelt, followed by a cotton pledget to discourage fungal growth. Repeat this process daily for one week. If both ears are affected, treat concurrently. Use only under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
