How Ultigel works:

Ultigel combines benzocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the affected area by interrupting nerve pain signals to the brain, and chlorhexidine gluconate, an antiseptic and disinfectant. Chlorhexidine gluconate's mechanism involves adhering to oral surfaces—teeth, inner cheeks, and gums—to eliminate bacteria responsible for gum disease, mouth sores, and other oral infections.
